The Graveyard Call :
New World Cup in France to replace Almabtrieb!
Yes my friends! Following the cancellation of Almabtrieb World Cup, we tried to find a solution to keep you and the entire Euro trip with 3 World Cups in a row. We found it and we are happy to announce that there will be an IGSA World Cup event from 23 to 26 of July to replace Almabtrieb: The Graveyard Call.
The race is the homespot of famous french riders as Adren Barat, Loic Zaccharo and Xavier Hoareau aka Twix. It will take place in Argonnay (France) in the French Alps.
It's named the Graveyard Call because the road ends near the cemetary where a big curve should see most of the riders crash, as in Danger Bay!
This event was supposed to be a freeride in october, but when twix and no comp (a former longskate champion) heard about Almabtrieb cancellation and how bad it could be for Peyragudes, they called me to propose IGSA to make it a world cup instead of Almbtrieb.
The road will be about 2.5 km, but the first 800 meters are an official closed road for downhill training. The french scene is well structured and we managed to get 4 roads regurlarly closed for us troughough the country! The D173 is one of them.
Argonnay, the village where the race will take place, is near the town of Annecy, french candidate for organizing the Winter Olympics in 2018. The purest natural lake in France!
THIS IS THE PROGRAM:
23rd of July afternoon:
Freeride on the first third of the spot (1 km on the 3 km long approx.)
24th to 25th of July: Training and time trials
26th of July: Finals
27th of July: Freeride on the short part of the track.
It will be organized by the French association, D173.
The race format will be "dual", as in Teutonia, Brazil.
REGISTRATION:
Registration should open at the end of April.
So take your flight tickets to Europe and stay tuned. More info to come!
The euro tour should be crazy this year!
