The Seismic Skate Systems World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding

Hood River, Oregon - World-class athletes, speed, adrenaline, danger, and gorgeous scenery will collide in Hood River July 17 - 19 for the Seismic Skate Systems World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding, the biggest slalom skateboard race of 2009.
The busy downtown main streets of Hood River Oregon are going to replace cars with slalom skateboarders as Hood River rolls out the red carpet for this event. Past races in Hood River have been so well received by the skateboard racing community that this year's event was awarded the World Championships by the International Slalom Skateboard Association (ISSA).
This year's event - the biggest slalom skateboard race of 2009 - will start on Friday morning, July 17, 2009,at the Mosier Tunnels east of Hood River with the Giant Slalom. Racers will wind along the half-mile long, single lane course where speeds can often exceed 35 miles per hour.
Saturday sees the event move to Columbia Street in downtown Hood River where the qualifying and preliminary rounds will be held for the Tight and Hybrid Slalom events. Racers will be competing head to head with the winning times calculated down to the thousands of a second.
Sunday the races move to Oak Street, one of the most popular downtown main streets in Hood River, Where the finals of the Hybrid and Tight Slalom events will be held. The top racers in each event will be racing for a large cash prize purse.

This year's event is being coordinated and hosted by a group of volunteers from the Cascade Slalom Association (CSA). CSA was originally formed in 1980 to promote slalom skateboard racing and was resurrected in 2002 with the world-wide resurgence of slalom skateboarding. Cascade Slalom Association annually hosts slalom skateboard racing events in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
